Corporate Social Responsibilities
Monterrico is dedicated to the principles of Sustainable Development. It recognises its responsibilities to the communities which will be influenced by the Rio Blanco Project, is committed to protecting the environment and complying with national and international laws and guidelines, including those of the OECD, World Bank and the Equator Principles. It also supports the UK Government's Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative.
Monterrico has an active Social Programme for open consultation, co-operation and engagement with the local people and other stakeholders. The aims of the Social programme are to: inform and consult the communities about the Project; build up an atmosphere of trust and co-operation; and work with the local people and other relevant parties to enhance the opportunities which the mine will bring to the area. By so doing, the Company aims to achieve social acceptance for the Rio Blanco Project and to generate amicable and mutually productive working relationships.
